This product contains alcohol. I am afraid that alcohol given to a dog will not be good for her/him. I did give my Jack Russell Terrier some of the product and she developed a condition similar to lock jaw. I don’t know if this was alcohol related and I can’t prove it. I do know that she got this problem right after I brushed her teeth with it using the precise directions on the bottle.

I’m a little cautious with using products such as this one with my senior dachshund. However it has definitely lessened the plaque buildup on her teeth and has improved her breath considerably. I only use it about 4 times per week (again due to her age and sensitivity). I figure in between vet cleanings (every year to 18 months) it’s not hurting but improving slightly.
Saved us hundreds over a professional cleaning!!!

We just adopted a mini poodle who is around 2 yrs old. The family told me they had just had her teeth cleaned so we wouldn’t need to. To my surprise, when we go the the vet 2 weeks later for our checkup, they informed me her teeth were horrible. Covered in heavy tartar build-up. Her teeth were covered in a thick heavy blackened crust. They vet couldn’t even estimate her age because of it. I bought 2 4oz bottles of the gel and one bottle of spray, for when I was short on time. 30 days later I was seeing a nice improvement, but still there was the cement clinging on. I went out and bought a dental scraper. She sat and let me scrape at the tartar. Low and behold a large chuck flaked right off. I thought I had broken her tooth, but it was just a huge piece of tartar. Her teeth are almost 100% tartar free now. I don’t believe the tartar would have came off so freely without using this product. I will continue to use over the next month and then go to maintenance a couple of times a week. I would not hesitate to buy this product. She has had no ill effects from the alcohol. We are very happy with our results!
